May 28-June 1, 2012 WAG Post

May 28, 2012
Dear BCS Families,
I hope all of you enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend.  I know many of our students talked about heading north or going to the beach.  Today turned out to be a great day to do just that.  As the weather gets warmer and the end of the school year comes to a close, it can be difficult to keep our focus.  Finishing strong is the key to a successful year.  There are many activities coming up including move up day where our students meet next year’s teachers and spend time in their classrooms.  This day is always exciting especially for our upcoming third graders.  Please join us in welcoming our new families as they begin their BCS adventure!  Many new families receive this newsletter and have already started following BCS on twitter and facebook.  As the new families join us, I would like to say how I, and the rest of BCS, have thoroughly enjoyed our 8th grade families leaving us in June.  Please know our doors are always open.  Good luck and thank you for the memories!

The Village Fair is coming up soon (5/31-6/3).  This is usually a very exciting time for our students and they want to head to the fair right away!  When you are planning your trip to the fair, please remember that we are still in session for school; kids have work to do, tests to take, and projects to finish  Also, please remember that some of the projects are completed in a group and students are relying on their classmates to be there during the school day to complete the project or present.
As the weather gets warmer and shorts, skirts, and tank tops come out, please take a moment to review the dress code with your child ( ) on page 9 of the student handbook.  Please help your child to remember that shorts/skirts must be below the child’s fingertips and tank tops must have wide enough straps so that undergarments cannot be seen.  If a student is not wearing the appropriate clothing to meet dress code, a call will be placed to a parent to have an appropriate item of clothing brought up for the student to change into.  Thank you for helping!
